Competition
Unlike any other area of life, sport is a challenging, emotional and connecting element all at the same time. Only by comparison with others, can humans and animals reach their performance limits and shift them continuously upwards. In the context of IRO competitions, the competitive and connecting elements are linked to each other and the search and rescue dog teams can check their current level of performance at an international level.
The IRO World Championship for Search and Rescue Dogs is a meeting point for the best search and rescue dog teams. Together and against each other, they fight for the medals and the title of "IRO World Champion" in the individual and team rounds.
IRO team competitions give the search and rescue dog teams the opportunity to demonstrate their readiness for missions and cooperation as teams in realistic deployment simulations. It is the result of a team as a whole, rather than individual performance that is evaluated.
