Next to the approved international testing events and the constantly rising number of courses and trainings IRO also holds the World Championship for rescue dogs once a year, the sporty highlight. Every two years an International Rescue Dog Symposium is being arranged.
After the premiere held in Austria in 2008, the International Day of Search and Rescue Dogs takes place every year at the same time. The last Sunday in April is always booked for different events giving the rescue dog teams over the world the opportunity to present their precious work to the public.
Above that, IRO constantly engages in new projects for rescue dogs’ benefit. For example, a study for heat stress of rescue dogs took place in Dubai on behalf of IRO’s commission for science and research. Next to IRO Teams, scientists of the Munich University as well as the IRO Member Organisation Dubai Police took part in it.
